Surgeons must be very careful
When they take the knife!
underneath their fine incisions
Stirs the Culprit --
Life!

Emily Dickinson

I haven't been the cloud
That brings a rain of riches
To the fields parched by lack of money;

I haven't been the powerful storm
that devastates
a mountain-range of enemies;

I haven't even been the bee
That buzzes around the lotus-faces
Of sweet-eyed young women --

I've only been the axe
That cut my mother's youth in two.
